CHINA-UNESCO WORLD HERITAGE AND SUSTAINABLE TOURISM PROGRAMME

For the past 40 years the UNESCO World Heritage Convention has conserved protected and presented the Outstanding Universal Value of our shared heritage. These unique natural and cultural wonders represent our past and present and belong to all. World Heritage properties are important travel destinations that if managed property have great potential impact for local economic development and long-term sustainable.

The UNESCO World Heritage and Sustainable Tourism Programme represents a new approach based on dialogue and stakeholder cooperation where planning for tourism and heritage management is integrated at a destination level the natural and cultural assets are valued and protected and appropriate tourism development.

The Programme creates an international framework for cooperation and coordinated achievement across sectors in order to safeguard heritage and achieve sustainable economic development.

VISION

World Heritage and tourism stakeholders share responsibility for conservation of our common cultural and natural heritage of Outstanding Universal Value and for sustainable development through appropriate tourism.

MISSION

FACILITATE THE MANAGEMENT AND DEVELOPMENT OF SUSTAINABLE TOURISM at World Heritage properties though fostering increased awareness, capacity and balanced participation of all stakeholders in order to protect the properties and their Outstanding Universal Value whilst ensuring that tourism delivers benefits for conservation of the properties sustainable development for local communities as well as a quality experience for visitors that adopt responsible behaviours.

THE FIVE PROGRAMME OBJECTIVES:

1. Integrate sustainable tourism principles into the mechanisms of the WORLD Heritage Convention.
2. Strengthen the enabling environment by advocating policies, strategies, frameworks and tools that support sustainable tourism as an important vehicle for protecting and managing cultural and natural heritage of Outstanding Universal Value.
3. Promote broad stakeholder engagement in the planning, development and management of sustainable tourism that follows a destination approach to heritage conservation and focuses on empowering local communities.
4. Provide World Heritage stakeholders with the capacity and the tools to manage tourism efficiently responsibly and sustainable based on the local context and need.
5. Promote quality tourism products and services that encourage responsible behaviour among all stakeholders and foster understanding and appreciation of the concept of Outstanding Universal Value and protection of World Heritage in 2017 year of Tourism

Rosa Dalmiglio was born in Garlasco, Italy.

She is a member of the China Council Disabled People’s Performing Art Troupe (special art, culture and humanity), which touches the hearts of all people and portrays the strong willpower so encouraging to 60 million Chinese disabled persons.

Ms. Dalmiglio is Intermediary Agent of CICE, Centre International Cultural Exchange, a direct subsidiary of the Ministry of Culture, People’s Republic of China. CICE is a comprehensive institution engaged in cultural exchange programs, professional publication and presentation of cultural art works such as exhibits, receiving foreign art troupes and artists, holding international cultural research programs, and producing intercultural and interreligious documentary films.

She is a member of China Disabled Person’s Federation, CDPF. She is also a member of the International Women Federation, which is concerned with the financial ethics of women s enterprises in underdeveloped areas.
