Introduction of the book is available in Hindi at http://groundreportindia.org/books/introduction-towards-consciousness-social-economic-self-sustainability/ and of Vivek Umrao Glendenning is available in English at http://www.vivekumrao.groundreportindia.org/. Working, supporting and traveling more than a decade for local communities development of various states in India, Vivek Umrao Glendenning met many people who changed the lives of thousands of families without using media, without getting funds from funding agencies. These people do not get any recognition though they make tremendous efforts for local communities. It is easy to get recognition nationally and internationally for the people who receives funds from international funding organizations because funding organizations promote them by media and reports to justify their donors. One needs to run a NGO with grants for these systems. The works of the people without funded NGOs are unheard in media, organizational reports, seminars and awards. For recognizing these people, Vivek initiated the idea of awards. He says by establishing awards he wants to push the media and international organizations for recognizing the socially committed people, work for the communities without being the part of funding systems and media. Primary information on proposed awards – Fields : Bureaucratic accountibility Village economy and development Woman, Dalit and Tribal Empowerment Environment, Water and Agriculture Empowerment Journalism for community Finances : Vivek Umrao Glendenning wants to use the royalty money from his books. Later on, supports from family, friends, communities and individuals from all over the world. International committee for awards : Thoughtful persons as professors, writers, professionals, activists, scientists, journalists, industrialists and farmers from different countries having understanding/interests for Indian communities. Awards will be given from Australia. Though these awards will carry token money but the goal of these awards – recognize the people’s works and efforts.
