The earth is grossly overpopulated and resources running out.

Population control should be the primary objective of environmentalists.

This issue is not new.People have sought a solution to the consumerist/capitalist technocrat corporate globalisation model for decades. It has been like a colony of ants in serious disarray trying to slow down an express train at speed.
In the West, the environmental movement has long been coopted by the corporates. The ecologists have long decided that overpopulation cannot be tackled in any way possible, other than to let nature take its course. The socalled Greens have no answer, politically or otherwise, to our predicament. That’s why their politics is all over the place, but always in favour of spending huge amounts of other people’s money for their green sheen schemes, which allows a growing host of opportunists to rake in easy money and live it up.Quantitive easing is another of the anti-environmental perverse financial scams which cause much unearned money to be sluiced into the pockets of the very rich and their acolytes. What to do?
First to realise, for well-meaning people to support any cause which is doing more harm than good is not helpful.Charitable institutions are these days a growing scam set up and run for personal profit.Denying oneself the means to live a meaningful life so others may waste yet more in an orgy of consumerism is pointless insofar it reduces one’s ability to affect the rest of society where it matters.Living frugally one does for one’s own satisfaction, and to set a good example. The middle way in that regard would appear the most sensible.
The most effective way to effect change for the better is on a nation-state basis. For that, informal cooperation and organisation may offer the best way in the face of resistance from the Establishment and its supporters.
However, natural law cannot be cheated or overturned.Every development is an inexorable result of the situation which went before it.To change the inexorables, one has to change the situation. For that, people have to be persuaded to change their ways.Good luck with that.It requires a revolution of the heart-mind, psychosomatically devastating experience which the majority anywhere will resist with all their might.Only the people who suffer under the current circumstances are, or ought to be, motivated to change their thinking and start that revolution from within.Jung and Tantra have around in the West for many generations now, to little effect, it seems. In the East, methods to gain insight and wisdom have around for several thousand years. To what effect? We can see the state of the world around us.
