All said and done , human greed and avarice seem to override all values and civil behavior. Corporates are now governing with more powerful tools but dangerously driven by greed for themselves. The author missed the new structure of world order. Old prophets don’t matter unless can be useful to corporate interests, now.

And there are no rules in this new ruthless game.

Even the language being used to communicate and interact in political campaigns now, extremely tribal and uncivil. We are not not evolving. Are we regressing, is the moot point.

Author is optimistic and ends on positive note. True , but I expect a serious cycle of massive destruction of current world order , pain and suffering , before that happens and a new cycle of simple living and high thinking takes center stage. Just to be human to each other and other species.

Yes, I think you are right. The author and the initial commentator are too dated in their views.Looking at the world today, it is difficult to be optimistic.I had an exchange of views with Bhanu Padmo some years ago, at the end of which I related my views on evolution and survival of the fittest. Both are driven by the very nature of manifestation, time and the Ur duality as well as derivative dualities at all levels and in all arenas of conflict.Who and or whatever survives at the expense of the other is fit to survive, for the time being. In the context of humanity, intelligence is pitted against the natural force of numbers of the humans at entry level of awareness and ability to organise for survival.
Globalisation is the last throw of the elite’s feudal structural dice.It will pan out differently in various sociopolitical theatres around the world due the different populations, genetic, epi-genetic, social, ethnic, cultural, etc.,etc., dispositions and the stage of cultural and political development.
It will be a struggle for survival in the face of population growth, growing consumerism and environmental degradation while a struggle between the globalising neo-feudal elites on the one hand and the almost infinitely shifting coagulations and groupings of the struggling and dis-enfranchised, not to mention dissenters and asymetrical forces fighting dominance by the elites will make things even more chaotic and potentially destructive.I think we are heading for a shake-out in numbers in which the most intelligent who are able to organise on a geographical basis will survive along with the most hardy and lucky of the masses caught without defendable ground in the melee for bare survival. To organise on a nation-state basis appears to me to give the best chance of survival, but must be combined with wisdom and forebearance from the highest level of organisation down.

    Human Nature: An Evolutionary Paradox
    http://groundreportindia.org/monthly/2016/08/16/human-nature-an-evolutionary-paradox/

On the whole a very informative, scholarly and thought provoking articles which leads one into various ideas, concepts, emotions, philosophical questions etc

    Some Stories from the Bible

Truly and as rightly pointed by the author trying to address present or new problems with old paradigms is by itself a paradox.

For that matter even giving too much of importance to any scripture of any religion as if it is some omniscient search engine or use it as a panacea or even using it to drive any reason or logic in the realm of present day living is again a great paradox.

Neither values nor morals can be downloaded from any scripture but rather they emerge as responses to specific context [they are contextual-{1}]based on inherent attributes, inculcated attitudes which are not wedded to any one particular or specific identity either regional, cultural, religious, ideological, political, socio-cultural and so on {2} however great or good that may be.

    Ethology

    Ethology and evolutionary biology are records of facts of tangible human evolution and therefore always both are interesting and instructive to derive lessons for a better living of human beings as one among the species with a realization that humans are part of the environment and environment is part of human species, and based on this understanding to lead a peaceful life as social animals with conscious awareness and greater faculties in some spheres of life to live a lovable life and bequeath a livable planet –whose very name has been coined wrongly as ‘earth’ when more than 70 percent of it is made of water and all the remaining 30% survives because of sunlight-{3}

    On Aggression

But for aggression manifesting in love and passion the world would be a dull place {4}.
However, it must be prevented from becoming violent, disturbing the peace and unity of many and becomes destructive of peace, life of human beings and other species to ensure unity, peace and harmony avoiding wars as much as possible, but are these possible ,if not why ?{5}.

    Paradox or Polarity principle

While paradoxes are well explained and proven and they often contribute to conflicts, confrontations or at least discomforts.
Scientifically we cannot deny the inevitability of polarity principle in many realms of life on the whole {6}.
A mere change in perspective may even enable us see that it is not paradox per se that causes a problem but a negative quality, a relative value {7}.

The greatest and most pleasant paradoxes which have given us the purple pages of past glory pursue our present story and perhaps may safely sail us through into our future without much worry are the on stop churning of evolutionary process {8}.

Analysis is okay for academic satisfaction. We need solution not mere understanding of world problems. This why I find Deen Dyal Upadhyay’s four lectures[April 22-April 25,1965 on Integral Humanism insightful.

Western civilization can no longer live on the myth of Sisyphus or Prometheus Unbound. Work is no more worship. Robot wiped out the very crux of Western civilization and society. Production of wealth is no longer a challenge. Distribution of wealth is the Challenge of our times. Setting limits to wealth is the challenge. How much minimum do we need to live well and peacefully is the challenge. And this is where DD Upadhyay’s Nuntam Str or Economic Minimum and Integral Humanism come in handy.
Recently, the Swiss rejected Minimum Income of 2500 Francs for adults and 625 for Children. Robots are creating wealth, rendering jobs obsolete. With this minimum, the Swiss could have all the leisure to discover and practice their unique pursuits and free themselves from Adam’s curse and drudgery of life but they rejected this offer because western culture had not prepared them to cope with leisure. Sooner and later all rich western countries are going to face this situation. India, blindly imitating and bringing FDI will hasten this disillusionment of wealth without jobs with greater shock. Government is inviting a disaster for India.Swiss proposal of 2500 francs as minimum income conforms to DDUpadhyay’s ‘nuntam str’ or Economic Minimum. It would humanize the economic system and promote human dignity and public spirit reminding us of our Maharaja Agrasen’s One Rupee and One Brick to each and every citizen of the state.
TODAY PROBLEMS LIKE CLIMATE CHANGE,RAJA KALASYAKARNAM OR GOVERNANCE,FOOD SECURITY, TERRORISM ARE GLOBAL AND SOLUTIONS TOO HAVE TO BE GLOBAL. DDU’S PHILOSOPHY OF HUMAN INTEGRATION OR INTEGRAL HUMANISM SHOWS THE WAY.

West, hence entire world, is yet to come out of the grip of Darwin and his Survival of the fittest dogma, yet. When looked at Evolution from the sub-cell particles level, the fallacy of Darwin comes out plain ! Who want to survive ? Nature, or the individual unit of life ? Extremely attentive thinkers are welcome to share the above questions at blog-link: http://leadingdogmasthatruletheworld.blogspot.in/2012/08/introduction-world-may-appear-as.html

Now, coming to the question of inherent instincts of man and animals, can any keenly observing mind escape or ignore the ELEMENT OF CREATIVE CHOICES in world and life ?:http://thewhyquestionofexistenceanswered.blogspot.in/

Thirdly, who can deny the reality of ‘Existential DRIVES’ in man and animal controlling their behavior? :http://unrecognizedobjectsofthemind.blogspot.in/

Finally, with all due respects to the highly learned author, would like to introduce to him, the concept of ‘WORLD’ ( the spirit of the Collective) in the self making of man and animals; it is an altogether new concept. While West accept only concept of ‘consciousness’, and NOT the reality of ‘self’, the entity mechanism in man, she will find it extremely difficult to entertain that, the ‘self’ of man, and the various energies around this concept is the future thing for modern Science ! It is not the purely mechanical ‘physical theories’ that determine behavior, but Science should seek out the separate and independent energy dynamics around human-self. Love to share with the author, this new concept, the ‘World’, and its role in making self of man:http://selfandworldblogs.blogspot.in/2015/03/is-world-absolute-object-or-relative.html

Pride, envy, wrath, gluttony, lust, sloth and greed are not Human nature. Nature is something that is innate and acceptable to the person and not something which the person himself/ herself wants to get rid of it. Human nature is – patience, to be just, truthful, honest, trustworthy, lovable, affectionate etc. In short Nature is something in which the person can live for ever and wants to live in such a state and not something which he himself de-taste.
