Rehabilitation works

Re-establishment of an entire village which was ruined by fire :

Because of a big fire, more than 750 family houses were completely burnt in the year 2007 in Khagaria, Bihar. Immediate relief and rehabilitation works were executed by the team co-led by Vivek and Dharmendra Kumar Yadav. New houses were constructed and supports for the self-employment were provided by Vivek, his wife, his family, his Indian and overseas friends. Credits for financial supports- A.I.D. (USA), Dr Claire Jean Glendenning (Australia), Lia Darby (Australia), Vivek Umrao Glendenning, Dr Swami Vivekanand Yadav, Er Dharmendra Kumar Yadav and others.

 

Flood Relief Works :

  • Relief and rehabilitation work in Bihar flood 2008 were done exclusively in Madhepura, Naugachhia, Khagaria, Saharsa, Supaul, Katihar, Samstipur, Araria, Purnia and other districts of Bihar by the local volunteers team co-led by Vivek Umrao Glendenning, Shankar Agrawal, Abhinandan Kumar Jahanvi, Nagendra Singh “Tyagi”, Mira Sinha, Er Dharmendra Kumar Yadav, Prafulla Chandra Ghosh and others. Credits for financial supports- Asha for Education (USA), A.I.D. (USA), Dr Claire J Glendenning, Vivek Umrao Glendenning, Shankar Agrawal, Amla Ruia and others.Vivek Umrao Glendenning travelled in flood suffered areas by spending more than 10 hours per day on a boat in high turbulent flood stream of the river Koshi for more than eight weeks to cover very interior and untouched areas. Because of his visits to many interior areas, the administration was forced to release money and relief materials within 24 hours. These areas were not attended by any NGO and government administration although more than one month after the flood.
  • Relief and rehabilitation work for months in the year of 2007 in Bihar were done by the local voluntary team co-led by Vivek Umrao Glendenning, Er Dharmendra Kumar Yadav and Nagendra Singh “Tyagi”. Credits for financial supports- A.I.D. (USA), Dr Claire J. Glendenning, Amla Ruia, Umesh Rashmi Rohtagi (USA), Vivek Umrao Glendenning, Prof H. C.   • Koshi Flood Disaster 2008 (Bihar, India)::

Because of Koshi River, Flood Disaster came and affected seven highly populated districted of North Bihar. More than 3 Million people were suffered from this Flood. Relief, Rehabilitation, Rescue, Food, Cloth, Medicare and Employment works were done in 6 districts with high priorities for very remote villages and villages of large streams of the flood.

In the leadership of Vivek Umrao Glendenning, a Civilian team of Medical Doctors, Journalists, Local Volunteers, Public Representative, Woman Activist, Local Activists and Social Workers, was formed to explore causes of Flood and monitoring of Relief & Rehabilitation works of Government. This team visited Origin of Flood, Kusaha area Nepal and Koshi Barrage on the Indo-Nepal border while others were not going there that time of the flood. This team also visited Mega Relief Camps of governments in different districts to explore ground realities of Government Relief Works. A live documentary was made.

  • Koshi Flood Disaster 2007 (Bihar, India)::

There was massive Flood in Khagaria and neighbour districts because of Koshi River. Boats were being used for travel in District Head-Quater. Couple of Hundred people died in Flood. Relief, Rehabilitation, Rescue and Medicare works were done for Flood Victims. For permanent Flood Solution, we called a mass meeting in Khagaria, all Members of Parliament and Bihar Assembly were invited. More than 70,000 persons from Khagaria and neighbour districts participated in meeting even though routes were not available because of Flood.

  • Eknia Village Fire 2007 (Bihar, India)::

In Eknia Village Fire Disaster, more than 750 houses were burnt completely and ten persons died excluded many animals like goats, cows, oxen and buffaloes.  Villagers were supported to build their homes with Bamboo, Straw and Others, also were supported for their self-employment.

  • Violence 2007 (Bastar, Chhattisgarh, India) ::

Hundreds of innocent people per year are being killed in Naxal affected areas of Chhattisgarh. Sometimes whole villages are destroyed with mass-destructive-weapons. Relief & Rehabilitation support for Children & Families of victims of these situations.
